Distant friends is a project I started at the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic and related restrictions on travel and socializing.  Using friends' social media profile pictures as the basis to create pixcellated portraits using lego tiles as a relief printing matrix.  Hand printed in 12-16 layers on kozo paper, these works speak about how wonderful that we have digital tools to keep in touch, but also what a poor substitute it is compared to actual in person contact.

Distant Friends has previously been shown in full at Impress Printmakers Gallery, Brisbane (2022) and Megalo Print Studio, Canberra (2023)
